【Oct. 15 Update】 Access from Tokyo to the Hida Region (Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Gero, Hida City)

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the people and areas affected by Typhoon Hagibis (Typhoon 19).
While public transportation within Gifu remains relatively unaffected by Typhoon Hagibis, infrastructural damages in other parts of the country have in turn impacted certain routes from Tokyo to Takayama, Shirakawa-go, and other parts of the Hida Region. 〇〇〇 Trains 〇〇〇
≪Hokuriku Shinkansen Route (Via Toyama and Kanazawa Station)≫
Currently one cannot travel to Takayama Station via the Hokuriku Shinkansen because services from Nagano to Toyama have been suspended (only shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano Station are running). Estimations have not been made for when the suspended shinkansen operations will resume.

≪Please use the Tokaido Shinkansen Route (Via Nagoya Station)≫
① Take a Tokaido Shinkansen from Tokyo (or Shinagawa) to Nagoya Station
② From Nagoya Station take a JR Ltd. Exp. Wide-View Hida to Gero or Takayama Station

〇〇〇 Highway Buses 〇〇〇
As a result of the Chuo Expressway closure (caused by typhoon damages) from Hachioji IC to Otsuki IC, bus services from Tokyo to the Takayama area have been suspended. Services will resume pending the re-opening of the expressway.
